In July, 2007, Gilead was blessed when it received a gift of a copy of a painting of the church building by the renowned artist Peter Max. The work was donated by George Carroll Whipple III, Chairman of Preserve Putnam County, which commissioned the painting. The original is part of the exhibit at the Laura Spain Memorial Cornerstone Park at the corner of Fair Street and Route 52 in Carmel.
