Gilead's Music Department

Picture of Treble Clef

Praise the LORD! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty firmament! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his surpassing greatness! Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with clanging cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that breathes praise the LORD! Praise the LORD! Psalm 150:1-6 (NRSV)

Under the leadership of Music director Mary Temple, Gilead is truly blessed to have a wealth of talent as is represented in the various music groups performing each week. It is not uncommon for people to literally "wander in off the street", drawn by the music eminating from the church. Like the members of our congregation, the music program at Gilead is also extremely eclectic and varied. Musical styles range from classical pieces by Handel and Haydn to contemporary praise music. Mary also tries to draw from the many traditions of our members.

All of Gilead's choirs and music groups are made up of volunteers and opportunities abound to praise the Lord! If you can sing, join the choir. If you can play an instrument, join the Gilead Ensemble. If you want to make music, but singing and playing aren't your thing, join the Bell Choir - we'll teach you and have a lot of fun as well!

The choirs are taking a break for the summer, but that doesn't mean the music has stopped. There is a full schedule of Special Music - something different each Sunday. Please see The Shingle for details.
