Community
Outreach
For over 250
years, Gilead Presbyterian Church has reached out to minister to
the spiritual and physical needs of the residents of Carmel, Putnam
County, our nation, and the world.
In memory of our longtime member, Lucy Kemp, who maintained her egg business well into her nineties, Gilead has created Lucy's Chicken Fund. The goal is to raise funds to donate to Heifer International for the purpose of purchasing chickens to those in need throughout the world. A paper cutout chicken has been put up to represent each chicken purchased.
The Gilead Food Pantry is open to all those in need. Donations of non-perishable food
items as well as financial contributions are welcome throughout
the year. In addition to its regular year-round food distributions,
the Gilead Food Pantry provides holiday dinners for the needy at
Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. For more information, please
call 845-225-4586.
Gilead participates
in the annual "Souper Bowl Sunday" each January. This year we raised over $200 and collected many cans of food, all of which support the food pantry.
Each October, Gilead is a major participant in the Putnam County Crop Walk for Church World Service.
We also participate in a Midnight Run 3 - 4 times each year.
A Prayer Chain
is available to those in special need of God's intervention in their
lives. Please call 845-225-3002.
Alcoholics Anonymous
meets in the Knieriem Room each Monday and Wednesday at 7:00 PM. |
