Spiritual Nurturing
Everything we do at Gilead has the shared goal of nurturing our spirits in some way. Our church exists to praise and worship God through Jesus Christ, and we have two major calls to action if we are to honor our worship of Christ: a) to nurture and develop our own spirits; and b) to nurture and develop the spirits of our neighbors.
We nurture our own spirits through our joyful, friendly, family worship services; our church fellowship time such as congregational dinners, picnics, concerts, games, clubs and fund-raisers; our educational opportunities like children's church school, adult Bible Study, Book Club, youth retreats, and women's retreats; and finally, we nurture our spirits through service to others.
In nurturing others, we are nurtured ourselves. After all, it is in giving that we receive. We're engaged in many missions outside our walls, such as the Gilead Food Pantry, Crop Walk, regular Midnight Runs to feed and clothe the homeless, nursing home and shut-in visitations, clothing drives, A.A. meetings and individual requests for need that arise.
One spiritual discipline which Gilead embraces that reaches inward to ourselves, and outward to our neighbors, is prayer. We are a praying church. We would love to pray for you and any concerns or joys you have in your life. If you would like to be included on our prayer chain, call 845-878-4064, or email Pastor Martin with private prayers. If you visit us on Sunday morning, you may fill out a prayer card to be read aloud from the pulpit during worship or given to the pastor for confidential matters.
Pastor Martin is also available for pastoral counseling for individuals and couples. Although he has counseled in churches for many years, Martin is not a licensed therapist; what he has to offer is an objective listening ear and the perspective of the loving grace of Jesus Christ. Please email him or call the church office at 845-225-4586 if you would like to make an appointment.
Love and light to you on your journey!
